Mass-Unsubscribe From Junk In Gmail

Here’s a clever way to mass-unsubscribe from spam, marketing emails, newsletters, and other stuff you don’t want clogging your inbox. 

  1. In Gmail, do a search for “label:inbox unsubscribe OR email preferences OR subscribed OR newsletter” (without the quotes)
  2. Select (checkbox) the emails you want to unsubscribe from
  3. Click “More” -> “Filter messages like these”
  4. Click “Create filter with this search”
  5. Do what you want with them. I prefer “Skip the inbox” and “Apply label: Spammy.” That way they’re not gone forever — they’re just moved to a folder away from my inbox.

This has increased my email productivity tremendously.
